Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Doula?
From DONA International, a Doula is "a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible."
As your Doula I will be by your side throughout your labor to ensure all your needs are met. I am a certified DONA Birth Doula and have knowledge of numerous coping methods to help you. I am also available before and after your birth for questions and referrals.
What is the benefit of having a Doula?
Some benefits of having a Doula are listed in the video above. Doulas are knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. They provide continuous support for the mother and her partner. Studies have proven that having a Doula can make your labor shorter, and have a decreased chance of using medical interventions.
I don't want a natural or unmedicated birth, can I still benefit from hiring a doula?
Absolutely!!! As a Doula, I am here to support you and your partner throughout the birth experience. Weather that is in the Hospital, a Birth Center, or at home, my goal is to make the day your baby is born as pleasurable as possible.
What if I can't afford a Doula...
If this is your current situation, I understand! Having a baby can be very expensive. Please contact me and we can discuss alternative options.
